Amanda Brugel

Brugel was the only Canadian actor in the Season 1 of the show, and not seen much. But in Season 2 she had become a series regularly scheduled and has been a member of the cast ever since. In response to questions about her character on the show, and whether there were any parallels to her personal life beyond the camera, Brugel said that she had used her experience with racism to relate to the way Marthas are being treated. "I am not content to use it in her house position as an Martha but, like I say, my past instances where I felt like I'm being held down by circumstances because of race." Though I've not experienced physical abuse because of the color of my skin and I've certainly been the victim of physical abuse. If someone's saying an insult or is biting someone, I use any racial remarks that were real to me. "I often use this type of feeling in every scene, because it's like always being hit at least once in every scene."
