Maureen Denise McCormick was born on August 5, 1956, at Woodland Hills, California, the only child of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick. Her father was an educator as her mother stayed at the house. Michael, Dennis and Kevin are three of her older brothers. McCormick was a gifted artist and dancer since an early age. She performed puppet shows for children living in her neighbourhood. At the tender age of six, she was crowned the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest. This led her to receive a telephone message by Pat Domigan at the Jack Wormser Agency asking if the young girl would be interested in pursuing a career in showbusiness. McCormick got her first major role in 1964 as she starred in the commercial for Mattel's "Baby Pattaburp," their newest doll. Another commercial for Mattel was filmed in 1964, for their "Chatty-Cathy" doll.
